So here’s a little pet peeve of ours on the Disneyland Railroad. 

The people in the top picture, those are Conductors

The people on the bottom are Engineers

So when you are asking a Conductor to take a tender ride (riding with the Engineers in the engine) please ask to ride with the Engineer and not the Conductor.
We understand that you might not know who we are, but just take a peak at our hats before you ask ;)

Side note, If you have never taken a tender ride, DO IT. Its pretty awesome to sit right the with the Engineers as you go through the park, watching the Engineer drive and the Fireman maintain the fire.

How do I do this you ask? Well its simple. Walk into Main Street station and talk to the Conductor thats standing near the door and they will let you know if we have one of the engines (there are two) that have the tender seat on them. If we have one or both on the track then they will ask the Engineers if they can take you around. It might not be able to happen if they need to do a blow down (release steam pressure) or take on water. But if they give the ok. You get a 20 minute private tour of the park with two friendly and knowledgeable Engineers. :)
